At War with Chaos

Any woman who has ever given birth (and any man who has ever been present while a woman gives birth) knows that it is one of the most dangerous things a woman can will her body to do. It may seem like she has no choice because she’s pregnant and the baby can’t stay in the womb forever; however, labor is not the point at which she sets her will upon childbirth, it happens long before that. Perhaps she has always wanted a child or perhaps once she learns that she has conceived she decides to have the baby. Whenever she makes the decision, she knows that it will at some point come to that: labor.

It is called labor for a reason. A woman’s body goes to the brink of death in order to bring forth life. So, too, do we, as dreamers in the creation process. We made our exodus from reality knowing full well it would be difficult, that we just may be sacrificing our lives for the cause. So when our journey finally leads us to the void in our lives (in the world) we may feel overwhelmed but we cannot feign surprise.

There, in the void, we battle chaos. We demand that it submit to our will. Like a woman in childbirth there can be no other option…we have come to this moment to bring forth what we have inside us and we-will-not-be-denied.

The journey has prepared us for this. We have created ourselves, we have faced the truth about ourselves and the world, we have dealt with nothingness, and we have learned to use our will. It will take all of that knowledge and skill to create from the void.

Creation is a battle. It’s a war between what is and what could be. Each will struggle against the other. And in the the tugging, with what is given up on each side, something wholly new is created: something bigger than anything we created before…something greater than ourselves.

Creation is a Violet Ambition.

  1. A Darkly Glass « Violet Ambitions - November 18, 2012

[…] Chaos should not be feared. Chaos is the opportunity to create. It is exactly what we want on the journey in pursuit of. A place of possibility. We may not have expected it to be such a dark and empty place, but that doesn’t matter. If we remain focused in the darkness, we will recognize the moment and seize it. And when we emerge from the void, it will be a void no longer because our presence in the void, our willingness to withstand the chaos, will have changed it completely. Chaos will bring us face to face. […]

[…] exodus that we took to follow our violet ambitions to our dreams has led us to chaos: a dark void of emptiness or so it seems. But remember we have been to a place like this before. We […]
